Nose Piercing

Its origins lie in foreign cultures, mostly as part of rituals. It came to us from India through the hippie movement, and the punk scene was one of the first to use it to shock. Today, many women and men wear it, usually less to shock and stand out, but because it's considered aesthetically pleasing. Have you figured out what it is? That's right, the nose piercing. When we talk about a nose piercing, it simply means a piercing on the nose. It doesn't specify whether the tip, septum, nostrils, or bridge of the nose are pierced, but all these variations are possible, sometimes even in combination. Equally important for all of them is the topic of nose piercing care and risks .

To help you understand which model is meant in each case, here is a brief overview of where you can get a nose piercing :

Nose piercing

Nostril piercings : a very common nose piercing for both women and men. It can be done on the right or left side of the nose, and the nostril is pierced. The piercing goes through cartilage tissue, which is richly supplied with nerve endings, so it will hurt briefly during the piercing process.

Septum piercing : another widespread piercing through the nasal septum, also popular with unisex users. Here, the piercing goes through connective tissue below the cartilage of the nasal septum. This allows for better healing of the nose piercing .

Nasallang : a combination of two nostril piercings with a septum piercing. Essentially, it's a horizontal bar across the nose. Often, the area between the two nostrils is connected externally by a small decorative chain. Nasallangs are worn by both women and men, but they are not a very common nose piercing.

Austin Bar : The Austin Bar piercing goes only through the tip of the nose, more precisely through the front cartilage cap. The nostrils and septum are not pierced. The Austin Bar nose piercing is also relatively rare; it can be horizontal or vertical.

Bridge piercing : The bridge piercing is the riskiest type of nose piercing. It runs horizontally along the top of the bridge of the nose, between the eyes. Because the trigeminal nerve also runs through this area, improperly pierced nose piercings can lead to risks such as facial paralysis. Bridge nose piercings are also relatively rare.
