Flesh tunnels are a type of body jewelry that has become increasingly popular in recent years. They are also known as flesh plugs, ear gauges, or ear stretching. This type of body jewelry is achieved by stretching the earlobe to create an opening through which the special jewelry can be worn.

They are a way to alter the appearance of your earlobes by stretching them and creating a tunnel. This can be a fascinating way to express your personal style and an interesting conversation starter. If you decide to wear a flesh tunnel, it's important to choose the right size to avoid pain and injury.

Our flesh tunnels and plugs are made from sterling silver, brass, stainless steel, or natural materials such as various types of wood, bone, or buffalo horn. The latter are hand-carved into a variety of shapes and colors. Organic piercing jewelry offers superior comfort thanks to its consistently pleasant temperature and secure fit in the ear. You can also purchase our organic flesh tunnels with a clear conscience, as no animals were killed for their production. We source the bone and horn from farmers who utilize the entire animal and prioritize humane animal husbandry. The horn and bone, which they don't use themselves, are sold and then crafted into beautiful jewelry pieces like tunnel plugs. These flesh tunnels and plug piercings are carved and sometimes hand-painted. We're happy to explain all the steps involved in getting your earlobe pierced, including which materials are best for stretching gradually, potential risks and how to easily avoid them, and, of course, how long the process takes. And if you ever get tired of your flesh tunnels, we also have helpful tips on how to gradually reduce their size and what other options are available for closing ear tunnels. The simplest option, of course, is hider plugs; these skin-colored stretchers creatively conceal your flesh tunnels. You'll also find all the necessary stretching supplies with us, in a wide variety of colors, materials, thicknesses, and shapes – happy browsing!

What size flesh tunnel should I choose?

Choosing the right size for your flesh tunnel depends on several factors. It's important to be patient and stretch your earlobes slowly to avoid injury and infection. You shouldn't try to enlarge your tunnel too quickly. It can take months or even years to reach a certain size. Keeping your earlobes healthy is also crucial. You should clean and disinfect them regularly to prevent infection. If you experience pain, swelling, or redness, you should remove your tunnel and consult a doctor.

If you decide to wear a tunnel, you should start with a small size and gradually work your way up to larger sizes. A good goal is to start with a tunnel size of 6-8 mm and go from there. Most people stop at 10 mm. If you want to wear a flesh tunnel larger than 10 mm in diameter, you should consult a professional who can help you carry out the process safely.

Flesh Tunnels – Motifs and Materials

Our tunnel piercings and plug expanders made of brass, stainless steel, and sterling silver feature similar designs. They incorporate patterns in tribal style or Balinese craftsmanship, as well as motifs popular in organic jewelry, such as the Flower of Life, the Tree of Life, and the Circles of Life. Metal tunnels offer different advantages: they are very durable, and 925 sterling silver is generally well-tolerated, even by sensitive skin. With a little polishing, 925 sterling silver can also be kept shiny for a lifetime. The designs are diverse thanks to the different types of wood used. Each wood has a typical structure and grain, whether stripes, spots, flecks, various shades, or solid colors in light, blood red, or almost black. However, this flesh tunnel ear jewelry requires stretched earlobes and is also intended for stretching; therefore, our sizes range from approximately 2 mm to approximately 50 mm, depending on the model. For a good fit in the piercing channel, the flesh tunnels and plug stretchers are designed double flared, ribbed with edges or as single flared flesh tunnels or plugs with a rubber ring.

Designs by Flesh Tunnel

With flesh tunnels, the piercing channel remains visible even after the piercing. This can be designed so that the flesh tunnel or plug forms only a narrow rim, or leaves only a small opening, or is open, but a carved ornament lies over the opening, allowing you to see through the hollows. Often, there are also hybrids of plugs and flesh tunnels; these display a variety of motifs from the front but are open from the back. Whether lobe plugs or flesh tunnels are more aesthetically pleasing is a matter of taste; however, it's safe to say that the earlobe, which is stretched specifically for aesthetic reasons, is more strongly emphasized with tunnels. We offer flesh tunnels in soft silicone, hard metal, and breathable wood, bone, and horn. This gives you plenty of choice. We also offer narrow and very wide tunnels, as well as those where the opening is concealed behind an artistic carving in wood, horn, or mother-of-pearl. If you're now curious and have stretched ears, then browse through our numerous flesh tunnels and find your favorite design. Perhaps a 10mm ear tunnel with a pendant? Or a rose gold ear tunnel piercing? We also carry engraved ear tunnels in various designs, including wooden ones. Ear tunnels and ear tunnel earrings are unisex and popular with both men and women. You can find instructions for stretching and closing your ear tunnels in our FAQs. Our customers appreciate the high-quality craftsmanship of our flesh tunnels – delicate designs, no sharp edges, and a smooth surface.
