This captive bead ring piercing replaces the typical small ball with a large, antique gold-colored ball composed of several tightly woven spirals. The ring itself is silver and measures approximately 1.6 mm, 1.2 mm, or 1 mm, depending on the style, and is made of stainless steel. The gold spiral ball is simply clipped into the ring's opening for insertion or removed for removal; this element is made of brass.
