Round Shiva eye, with red resin and silver setting, sterling silver 925, hallmarked, approx. 12 mm in diameter. The so-called Shiva eye shell is actually the protective door of a special type of shellfish called the turban snail, which is found in tropical seas. At the end of the turban snail's life, the door detaches, revealing the beautiful spiral symbol on the inside, from which the shell derives its name, Shiva eye. On the outside, a remarkable array of green and brown colors is revealed. From shell to shell, the colors blend in various variations. In Hinduism, the "Shiva eye" is a symbol of the third eye of the deity Shiva and a sign of higher consciousness.
