The so-called Shiva eye shell is actually the protective door of a special type of shellfish called the turban snail, which is found in tropical seas. At the end of the turban snail's life, the door opens, revealing a beautiful spiral pattern on the inside, which gives the shell its name, Shiva eye. On the outside, a striking array of green and brown colors is revealed. From shell to shell, the colors blend in various variations. In Hinduism, the "Shiva eye" symbolizes the third eye of the deity Shiva and represents higher consciousness.
