The tribal piercing is intricately hand-carved from shimmering mother-of-pearl or black shell. Depending on the style, this expander is available in 2mm, 3mm, or 4mm diameters. It features a unique hook, spiral, or wing shape and is worn as a dangle earring. The shell stretcher is crafted from organic mother-of-pearl or black shell and, as a natural product, never looks exactly the same. Because the spiral is hand-carved, the dimensions of the piercing may vary by +/- 1mm from the stated size. The images show possible color combinations of the piercings, ranging from white, yellow/gold, brown, red, and green to gray. Minor variations in size and color are normal for organic piercings. The organic material allows the skin in the piercing channel to breathe, preventing odors. Water contact is not a problem with shell; however, spiral piercings should not be worn overnight, as the delicately carved shell is more prone to breakage.
