Bridge piercing
The bridge piercing is actually a surface piercing and is considered a nose piercing . This facial piercing is located above the nose, at the bridge of the nose and between the eyes. It is pierced horizontally through the skin fold above the nasal bone at the upper beginning of the bridge of the nose. Of all nose piercings, the bridge piercing is probably the one with the most serious risks . Even though the pain is generally moderate rather than severe, the bridge piercing is not for beginners. Your piercer should be a true professional when performing a bridge piercing, as this piercing runs very close to the trigeminal nerve, and if any problems arise during the procedure , they must react quickly and correctly. They also need to provide you with excellent advice regarding jewelry for this piercing, as the jewelry must not exert any pressure on the pierced area. Excessive pressure on the nasal bone could lead to inflammation, which in this location could spread to nerve inflammation and, in the worst case, damage cranial nerves. A barbell is the best and safest option for a bridge piercing, especially one made of soft PTFE Bioflex plastic. Curved barbells and regular surface piercings are unsuitable for this location, and a reputable nose piercing shop should tell you this. We therefore advise you to only get this piercing if you already have experience with other piercings; it's not suitable for beginners due to its risks. Nose piercing healing varies considerably; while it can take up to eight months for some, there are also cases where it only takes two to three weeks. Do you wear glasses? Then you should carefully consider whether you want a piercing in this area, where your glasses rub against your nose. In this case, we don't recommend a bridge piercing. Please inform yourself thoroughly about nose piercing aftercare and the risks associated with bridge piercings. Can you ensure that your glasses frames won't touch the fresh bridge piercing? If you wear glasses, consider a septum piercing or a nasallang instead. The Austin Bar would also be an alternative; they all run similarly, just deeper.
