These ear expanders begin as a spirally twisted hook, from which dangles the motif: a round snake. It's round because the snake is biting its own tail, and its head resembles a dragon's. This motif is the World Serpent, or Midgard Serpent, from Norse mythology, which is why these ear weights are also suitable for Viking, Celtic, and Nordic enthusiasts.
